Imad Wasim takes back retirement from T20 international cricket

Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has opted to rescind his retirement from Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket just ahead of the upcoming World Cup this year.

The announcement was made by Imad through a formal statement shared on his verified social media platform, previously known as Twitter, on Saturday.

Expressing his sentiments, Imad declared his availability for Pakistan cricket in the T20I format as they gear up for the ICC T20I World Cup 2024. He expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for showing faith in him and reiterated his commitment to showcasing his best performances for his country. Emphasizing his dedication, he affirmed that the priorities always lie with Pakistan.

Moreover, Imad marked a unique milestone in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history by becoming the inaugural player to secure the Player-of-the-Match awards in all three playoff encounters.

It is essential to highlight that Imad had previously retired from international cricket in November of the preceding year.

Imad has been a pivotal figure in the Pakistani squad for years, contributing significantly to the triumphant 2017 Champions Trophy squad. His appearances include crucial roles in the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 World Cup, and 2021 T20 World Cup.

Debuting in May 2015 against Zimbabwe, the southpaw has represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is. His international career statistics boast 109 wickets and 1,472 runs.
