Milestone Achievement by Kolkata Knight Riders Star All-Rounder Andre Russell
Kolkata Knight Riders dynamo all-rounder Andre Russell completed 200 Indian Premier League maximums during Kolkata Knight Riders’s (KKR) season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.
The all-rounder crafted a blistering 25-ball 64, studded with seven maximums to aid the team in posting 208 in its 20 overs. He etched his name in IPL history by reaching the 200-six milestone at a record pace in terms of balls faced.
The 35-year-old reached the 200-six mark in 1322 balls, setting a significant benchmark as his fellow countryman accomplished the feat in 1811 balls. Sitting third on the tally is Kieron Pollard, who achieved the milestone in 2055 balls.
Simultaneously, he also joined the elite club of batters who have notched up 200 or more sixes in IPL’s illustrious history. Topping the chart is the explosive Chris Gayle, the solitary batter to surpass 350 maximums.
Most Sixes in IPL
357 – Chris Gayle
257 – Rohit Sharma
251 – AB de Villiers
239 – MS Dhoni
235 – Virat Kohli
228 – David Warner
223 – Kieron Pollard
203 – Suresh Raina
202 – Andre Russell
It is worth mentioning that the Knight Riders encountered early trouble, losing three wickets in the PowerPlay. Phil Salt’s half-century and Ramandeep Singh’s quick cameo steered the innings back on course. Russell and Rinku Singh then orchestrated an 81-run partnership to set a challenging target for the opposition.
