West Indies: South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final of the ICCT Twenty World Cup 2024.
In the match played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Taruba, Afghanistan won the toss and invited South Africa to bowl first. The entire Afghanistan team was all out for 56 runs in 11.5 overs.
On behalf of South Africa, Marco Jensen and Tabriz Shamsi took 3,3 wickets while Enrique Enrich and Kagiso Rabada took 2,2 wickets.
South Africa chased down Afghanistan’s easy target of 56 runs in 8.5 overs for the loss of one wicket. The Proteas have made it to the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time.
On behalf of South Africa, Quinton de Kock could score only 5 runs while Reza Hendricks scored 29 runs and captain Aiden Markram remained not out on 23 runs.
