Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Fitness Camp Announcement
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed on Monday that a group of 29 players is scheduled to participate in a fitness camp at Kakul, Abbottabad.
Following their recent decision to come out of retirement, all-rounder Imad Wasim and fast bowler Mohammad Amir have been summoned. Additionally, batsman Usman Khan, who delivered exceptional performances in PSL 9, has also been included in the camp.
The camp is planned to run from March 26 to April 8, and the players are expected to join later today. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, has been strategically designed by the PCB to prepare the players for upcoming series and tournaments. This includes the home T20I series against New Zealand, the away T20I series against Ireland and England, as well as the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
During the camp, the focus will be on promoting team cohesion and enhancing the players’ physical and mental strength to ensure they are well-equipped to face the challenges ahead. Under the supervision of experienced trainers and coaches, the players will undergo a comprehensive training program to improve their fitness levels, agility, leadership skills, and strategic thinking for enhanced field performance.
It is important to mention that the Pakistan team is currently without a coaching staff. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated on Sunday that the management is actively working on finalizing the coaching panel. The selection of both national and international coaches for the national team is in its concluding stages and will be completed within four to five days.
